I was reading an article today on another Entrepreneurs blog. It was talking about not just consuming information, but taking that information and doing something with it. Acting on it.In the comments below the article there was a gentleman that basically said not everyone could kill it and become these uber successful entrepreneurs and that people like Elon Musk, Gary Vaynerchuk, etc. were comparable to those that are naturally born with the skills required to make them great athletes.Basically he claimed that there were, just like in sports, some people who were just born with the right skills to be a great entrepreneur without even trying. Without needing to learn all this stuff. That they were mixed with the right amount of drive, charisma and knowledge needed to pull it off.This was easily one of the biggest paragraphs of bullshit I’ve ever read on the internet!After I read this, I started doing a little research on the internet and discovered that this is actually a debated issue.There are actually a shit ton of people that believe you must be born with “it” in order to be a successful entrepreneur.This literally shocked me and my mind started racing. What in the world would cause people to believe that they must be born with these skills (BTW Charisma is a skill also) in order to be successful. Then it dawned on me. It’s the same as always.People will do anything to come up with an excuse that points the finger away from their own shortcomings.Instead of admitting to being lazy, just blame it on the fact that some people are born with it and others aren’t.Instead of admitting to being fearful, just blame it on the fact that some people are born with it and others aren’t.Etc.Maybe some people are born with a predisposition to being more charismatic or it’s easier for them to pick up new things quicker, but this doesn’t mean anyone can’t become a great entrepreneur. It just might mean it’s more difficult for you.SO WHAT?!? Do it anyways. Or…Keep making excuses.
