Most people kill time by browsing social media on their phones or possibly playing a game. I’m actually in love with reading. There’s just something magical about reading! Sometimes, the words on the pages almost jump out at you causing revelations so strong that they literally change your life.My belief is that all books out there can have this effect on people, however, for this particular post I’m going to be sharing some of my favorite nonfiction books. I’ll also discuss why I feel it’s important that you read these particular books! So, are you ready? Then let’s dive right in and change our lives for the better!

1. The Power of Now

The Power of NowThe Power of Now is a book on Spiritual Enlightenment. I know…I know… I can already hear it! I’m not a religious person. I’m not a spiritual person. I get that, but it’s more than just some spiritual or religious book.Eckhart Tolle does a fantastic job of explaining the issues we have with our minds and the dissatisfaction we can face in life which if not dealt with properly can lead to a life full of depression. He provides useful tools and methods for enjoying the life we have and not focusing on the problems we may sometimes face.We all know that life isn’t always sunshine and rainbows, but honestly, most of us simply don’t know what to do when life hits us head on or our emotions start to get the best of us. Tolle understands this and helps you understand that there is more to life than just our problems.Personally, I grew up in church and as I’ve gotten older admittedly I walked away from it and from “God.” This book made me realize you don’t have to agree with everything a religion, church or person says to believe in “God” or to experience “God” in your life!In my opinion, The Power of Now, is the go to book for those that may be dealing with their own spirituality! If you let it, this book will change your life!

2. Money! Master the Game!

A picture of the book cover Money Master the GameMONEY! Master the Game by Tony Robbins is a must have if you are desiring to learn about your finances. Tony does a great job of walking you through all the basics of saving, investing and letting your money work for you instead of the other way around!None of us want to work out entire lives away and this book will help get you the information needed to make sure you start planning your later years of life today! It isn’t that this book contains any more information than most of the other financial books out there, in fact, it’s pretty much the same information you can get from other financial books. The biggest reason I recommend this book over other financial books, especially for beginners, is because Tony walks you through all things considered important in order to make sure you achieve your dreams and get to the point in your life where you are financially secure. He also writes in a style that gets you excited about the information he is presenting and it causes you to actually want to get started and become a money master. A badass money ninja if you will! It’s a great read and there’s a reason it has a 4.4 out of 5 star rating over at Amazon.

3. How to Win Friends & Influence People

Book CoverThe book, How to Win Friends & Influence People, was released back in 1936, however, it’s so popular and such sound advice that it has been reprinted and updated many times. Dale Carnegie does a great job of giving tools and tips you can use to basically get people to like you.Maybe you aren’t the best at making new friends, maybe you work in sales or another type of job that requires you to interact daily with new people and you’re looking for way to better connect with clients. Either way, I believe this book can help you out tremendously if you are willing to try the methods Dale suggests.I’m not naive enough to think that you can win over every person you meet! In fact, sometimes you just have to cut toxic people out of your life in order to protect yourself! This doesn’t mean that this book can’t drastically improve your ability to make lasting relationships. Not just lasting, but more meaningful relationships! It’s a simple book, an easy read, and none of the methods he mentions are mind blowing, in fact, most are common sense. It will still change your life if you allow it! Pick up a copy of this book today! You won’t be disappointed if you do, I promise!

4. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

7 Habits of highly effective peopeThe 7 Habits of Highly Effective People was written by Stephen R. Covey and in my opinion is one of the best personal growth books you can read. It will really open your eyes to some of the major differences in successful people vs unsuccessful people and help you understand why they force themselves to develop some of these habits.Another reason this book is so popular is because of simply trying to teach you a couple techniques, it instead teaches principles that will change your character. This simple focus on principles instead of techniques helps the changes to be lasting instead of temporary.Above you have three books on Spiritual, Money and Relationships. This book teaches you how to discipline yourself so that you can be successful.  It teaches you the principles needed to do what you say you’ll do. It gives you the understanding that it’s up to you to develop these habits and to change your life.I personally believe this book is the best one for personal growth and a must read if you only read one book from this category!

5. The Personal MBA

The last book, The Personal MBA, also comes from our last category which is business. This book teaches you the real world topics you need if you have ever thought about starting your own business and let’s be completely honest… Most of us have!!! I mean come on, who doesn’t dream of waking up and fulfilling their passion while also making money at it? We all do!You may never want to own your own business, however, you should at least still understand how business works. How capitalism works. It’s such a huge part of our society and controls more than you realize. This book can open your eyes and help you see the inner workings of business.Josh Kaufman does a great job walking you through the must knows when it comes to business and while I don’t think it will teach you everything you need to know, I do think it’s the one you should start with!

Summary

Alright, so now that you have 5 different books from 5 different categories, (spiritual, financial, relationships, personal growth and business) I think you are ready to get started! In summary… GO DO IT NOW!No seriously!Pick one and start reading it!If you haven’t read in quite some time stop freaking out.Just do it!It may just change your life!Happy Reading my Friends!
