What’s up, nerds? It’s Derek from OMG It’s Derek, and I’m hyped to be back with another Magic: The Gathering unboxing! This time, I’m ripping into some seriously cool packs: three Assassin’s Creed Beyond Boosters, three Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth Set Boosters, and a Dungeons & Dragons: Battle for Baldur’s Gate Pre-Release Kit. Plus, I’m leveling up this time by checking card prices live with a scanner app—learning as I go, one pull at a time. If you’re into MTG card openings, rare finds, or just love the chaos of pack-ripping, stick around. We’ve got some wild moments ahead!

Quick Pokémon Recap: Tanner’s Pulls Sparked This!

Before we dive into MTG, a quick detour: my son Tanner and I have been tearing into Pokémon cards lately (check that video if you missed it). We scored some dope pulls like Pikachu EX, Gengar EX, Luxray EX, and full-art beauties like Poochyena and Turtwig—cards ranging from $5 to $15. Tanner’s excitement got me hooked on collecting again, and now we’re back in MTG territory. Let’s see what these packs have in store!

Assassin’s Creed Beyond Boosters: $411 Surprise!

I kicked things off with the Assassin’s Creed Beyond Boosters—three packs, about $6 each, and holy cow, did they deliver. First up, Brotherhood Regalia scanned at $7.19—already beating the pack cost! Then came the jaw-dropper: a legendary artifact (Storm Hammer, maybe? Names are hard!) that hit $411. I was like, “Let’s go, dude!” We also snagged a slick foil Overpowering Attack ($1.94) and some gorgeous lands like a Swamp (50 cents) and Mountain (33 cents). Even the art cards, like the Assassin Art Card (12 cents), added flair.

Standout Pulls:

  • Brotherhood Regalia: $7.19
  • Legendary Artifact: $411 (Insane!)
  • Foil Overpowering Attack: $1.94

The second and third packs were quieter—cards like Distract the Guards (7 cents) and Chain Assassination (7 cents)—but the art kept me stoked. That $411 pull? Still buzzing about it.

Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth—Art Goals & a $48 Foil!

Next, I cracked three Lord of the Rings Set Boosters, and man, the art is unreal. The foil Island (14 cents) and Swamp (16 cents) are frame-worthy, and we hit some solid pulls like Sting, the Glinting Dagger ($1.69) and Witch-King of Angmar ($5.73). The real shocker? A foil card (Lotho, Corrupt Shirriff) worth $48! I yelled, “Stop it, stop it!”—total last-pack magic.

Standout Pulls:

  • Witch-King of Angmar: $5.73
  • Foil Lotho, Corrupt Shirriff: $48
  • Sting, the Glinting Dagger: $1.69

Even with smaller hits like Pippin, Warden of Isengard (4 cents), these packs paid for themselves. If you’re into Lord of the Rings MTG, these are a vibe.

D&D: Battle for Baldur’s Gate Pre-Release Kit—Art Over Value

Finally, the Dungeons & Dragons Pre-Release Kit. With 20 cards per pack, I had high hopes, but the value didn’t quite match the others. Still, the art—like Geode Golem (11 cents) with its glowing chest and Minthara, Merciless Soul (15 cents)—was dope. Best pulls? Sea of Clouds ($6.83) and Swiftfoot Boots ($1.52). Not huge, but solid.

Standout Pulls:

  • Sea of Clouds: $6.83
  • Swiftfoot Boots: $1.52
  • Cool Art Cards: Low value, high vibes

It didn’t break the bank, but the D&D flavor and card count made it fun. Worth it? Eh, maybe for the art alone.

Thoughts: The Thrill Beats the Price Tag

Did every pack deliver a fortune? Nah, but the rush of unboxing—especially nailing that $411 artifact and $48 foil—made it worth it. The art across Assassin’s Creed MTG, Lord of the Rings MTG, and D&D MTG cards is stunning, and I’m hooked. Sleeving strategy? Penny sleeves for all, top loaders for anything over $1. Overkill? Maybe, but I’m new at this—cut me some slack!
